Waking at 2-4AM and struggling to get back to sleep?

If you’re struggling emotionally & you’re waking at 2-4am and not going back to sleep, consider engaging in practices that place you in deep relaxation in those hours &/or allow you to get back to REM sleep. REM is where much of the emotional reset occurs - to reach this state you can use a powerful tool called NSDR. This tool/technique will reduce cortisol (stress hormone) and increase nitros oxide within the blood stream (improves relaxation).

Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) are specific techniques to reach self-directed states of calm through mental focus and breathe. NSDR protocols can improve learning, help you relax, reduce stress, and help you fall back asleep more easily.

NSDR encourages a deep sense of calm and relaxation by increasing nitros oxide and reducing stress hormones which are often high upon wakefulness.

To do this follow the below steps.

1. Lie flat and comfortably in bed.

2. Take long deep relaxing breathes through your nose and then slowly back out through your nose of mouth.

3. Do this for 10 minutes or until you feel more relaxed and a sense of calm.

4. Now, get comfortable in bed again and try to drift off to sleep.

There is a solid foundation of science behind this technique and the basis of this protocol is the breathe.

By breathing the way outlined above your stress hormones will lower and nitros oxide will rise within the blood stream making its way to the brain causing an increase in relaxation.
