A bathroom trip tip, which could change your sleep.

If you wake up in the middle of the night and you got to the bathroom and flip on the light your melatonin levels, which would normally be very high during the middle of the night due to your eyes being closed, will plummet to zero or near zero.

We would all do well to not destroy our melatonin levels in this way.

Melatonin needs to come on early in the night. It actually starts rising early in the evening and towards sleep but then as you close your eyes and go to sleep melatonin levels are going to continue to rise for at-least several hours during the night.

The moral of this story, keep the lights off during the night and if you need to use the bathroom use a very dim light which just gives you enough light to see.

Alternatively you could use a torch, phone light or wear a pair of blue light filter glasses and then switch the light on.
I know this is not ''ideal'' for a bathroom trip during the night however the facts remain, so it's in your best interest to use very dim light.

I hope this information is of value to you and contributes to your continued sleep journey.
